Our annual Eastview High School screening in Apple Valley was a great success!

The numbers:

  • 233 Kids screened
  • 199 Normal
  • 20 Normal with Minor Variant
  • 8 Elevated Blood Pressure after 2nd check
  • 6 Abnormal
    • Bicuspid AV
    • Right Bundle Branch Block
    • Long QT
  • 267 kids/adults learned how to perform CPR & use and AED

Keeping with our tradition of trying to save lives, the Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation donated an AED to Rosemount High School on Saturday.  Eastview Athletic Trainer Mairead Griffin @mkgriffin07 accepted it on behalf of @Irish_Athletics Trainer Ashley Rust.

Many thanks to @EVHSAthletics @EVHS Staff, Students and Activities Director Matt Percival for having us and being great hosts for our annual event.  Special thanks to @EVBoysHSHockey for helping us set up and take down, all the Eastview/Apple Valley community members for sharing your time, money and energy to make our screening happen and @savoypizza in apple valley & @TimHortonsUS for donating pizza, donut holes & Coffee for our wonderful volunteers.

Our sonographers are simply the best - and – we are able to provide them the best equipment available thanks to Jason Anderson and his team @PhilipsNA.  Jason and his team, for the 13th time, came through for us and once again loaned 4-CX50 ultrasound units for the day.  Thank you!

To our wonderful volunteers who spent the day with us, we appreciate your time, energy, talent and commitment to saving lives with us.  We cannot do this without you!

To our attending Medical Professionals on Saturday: Bob Wilson MD, Carmelo Panetta MD, Carolyn Oeltjenbruns NP, Mary Yee Johnson MD and Betsy Wilson, thank you for listening to young hearts and sharing your knowledge with the kids and their parents.

Screening young hearts, CPR-AED training and well-placed AED’s will save lives. Our heart screens, CPR-AED instruction, and donated AEDs would not be possible without your generous financial support!  Did you know 100% of your donations go to support our events?   Play for Patrick is an all-volunteer organization.  We do not employ paid staff and we keep our expenses as low as possible.  We appreciate and are humbled by all the donations over the years, however we are far from done saving lives.  We still need your help.  Medical supplies, office products, advertising, insurance and other items cannot always be donated.  Our equipment needs to be updated to ensure the best opportunity to see defects and Play for Patrick hopes to raise $80,000 to purchase four more used Philips CX50 ultrasound units .  For more information, or if you wish to donate, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/playforpatrick96 or contact Mike Schoonover mike@playforpatrick.org
