Farmington Screening Recap

This Saturday we held our 15th heart screen at Farmington High School. We screened 168 kids with the following results;

  • 122 Normal
  • 6 Normal with minor variant
  • 23 Elevated Blood Pressure
  • 17 Abnormal (50% structural 50% electrical)

We taught 195 kids & adults hands only CPR & AED awareness and donated an AED to Farmington High School Athletics.

Thanks to Lori Jensen, Bill Tschida, Dan Pickens and the janitorial staff of Farmington High School for the great venue.  

Thanks to Farmington Rotary, Old National Bank, Impact Auto, Premier Bank, Janie’s Home Team/Keller Williams Preferred Realty and Town Sports for donating money to support this event and the wonderful hospitality to keep our volunteers fueled for the day.

Thanks to all of our volunteers who braved the poor driving conditions to help us screen young hearts, with a special thanks to Drs. Jay Traverse, Jeff Chambers and Mary Yee Johnson for sharing their time & knowledge helping families understand the results.

Our next screens are:

  • Sunday April 7th at Mpls. Washburn High School. We will be joining forces with Simon’s Heart from Philadelphia PA. More details to come
  • Thursday June 20th in Crosby. We will be making a road trip to work with Cayuga Regional Medical Center. Stay tuned.

Play For Patrick Statistics

From August 2015 to October 2018, the Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation conducted 15 Play for Patrick youth heart screens, screened 2,736 kids, found 157 with high blood pressure (with repeated check), 218 with abnormal electrical or structural heart defects, taught 2,512 kids & adults CPR & AED awareness and donated 6 AEDs to area High Schools.
