The Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation is run by volunteers and donations.  You can help by becoming a volunteer to get the word out, help with one of our upcoming events, or by bringing any of your talents to help our organization.

We accept financial donations in any amount to help support purchasing heart screening and medical training devices.  We are always looking for sponsors and other ways to partner with our community.  Thanks for your support!

Sponsorship Inquiries

Non-Medical Volunteer Roles

  • Volunteer Check-In Station - Welcome volunteers, set-up/prepare for 11:30AM Volunteer shift
  • Check-out Station - Receive/organize final screening paperwork from students
  • CPR/AED Station - Helper - Assist Trainer with hands on CPR/AED use
  • CPR/AED Station - Lead Instructor - Train students & parents hands-only CPR & AED use. Must be CPR Certified & have knowledge to train CPR/AED use
  • EKG Data Entry - Perform basic computer data entry
  • Floater - Assist as needed in any non-medical role.  NOTE: We may not end up with a role for you at the screening, in which case you will be provided the option to leave.
  • Height & Weight Station - Measure & record height & weight of students
  • Student Check-In Station - Welcome students, verify completed paperwork
  • Technical Support - Help ensure the computers used for screenings are setup and communicating with equipment (Knowledge of Windows 8, Bluetooth, and peer-to-peer networks helpful but not required)

Medical Roles

  • BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKER - Take manual blood pressures
  • EKG STATION TECH - Conduct EKGs and record/print results
  • EKG STATION - SUPERVISOR - Experience in ECG department or interpreting ECGs, familiar with Seattle Criteria.  Instruct EKG Techs and data entry volunteers on EKG processes
  • CARDIAC ECHO TECH - MN LICENSED - Complete a limited cardiac echocardiogram for students who are identified as possible high risk for cardiac abnormalities.  A Cardiologist will be available to consult with the Echo Tech if needed.
  • PHYSICIAN / ADVANCE PRACTICE PROVIDER (APP)  - Test Review/Consult Station - Review normal cardiac test results with students & family, abnormal results will have cardiology & physician back-up & supervision
  • CARDIOLOGIST - Test Review/Consult Station - Review cardiac test results with students & family.
