Special visitors who made the day more rewarding

  • Jodi & Teagan Hasler, mom & sister of Kyli Penner.  Kyli was at our October 2015 screen and was found to have a hole in her heart.  She has since had it corrected and is now a Sophomore @ Iowa.  Jodi secured a $5,000 grant from her employer-@Trustmark Companies Foundation and stopped by to hand deliver the check to us.
  • Zach Kantorowicz-Wakefield.  The 10 year old entrepreneur & philanthropist volunteered and donated $150 from his lawn mowing & dog walking business.
  • Kaylyn Rosewell and her best friend Sophia Peterson, both seniors @ White Bear Lake HS volunteered at the CPR/AED station.  Kaylyn suffered SCA in June at a dance recital and was brought back to life thanks to life saving bystanders.  Sophia happened to be there with Kaylyn when she went down and was able to see her come back to life.  Saturday was Sophia’s 18th birthday, so it was extra special to be able to sing happy birthday to her.
  • Colin Tollefson was also at our screen in October 2015, where we identified WPW, a life threatening electrical heart defect.  Colin, had his heart defect eliminated and is now a freshman at St. Thomas University.

Many-Many Thanks

  • @EVHSAthletics @EVHS Staff, Students and Activities Director Matt Percival for having us and being great hosts and to @EVBoysHSHockey for helping us set up and take down.
  • @Medtronic for recognizing & highlighting the Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation this month.  Medtronic’s Mission is focused on alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life, which is consistent with the Play for Patrick youth heart screens.  With the help of Medtronic team members Pam Samuel, Ravyn Miller, Rob Clark and Tracy McNulty, Medtronic helped raise awareness for Saturday’s heart screen by contacting local media outlets and awarding a $10,000 grant to the foundation.
  • Jason Anderson and his team @PhilipsNA  loaned 3- Philips CX50 ultrasound units, giving our wonderful sonographer volunteers the best equipment to screen young hearts.
  • To all of our volunteers who gave their time and energy to help the kids, make them feel comfortable and perform life saving work.  It takes a lot to Set up, take down, screen, teach and serve.  Thank you for serving with heart!
  • To our volunteer physicians, PA’s, NP’s & RN’s for their expertise at the physician consult station.  We would not be able to have these events without them.  Kate Moody, Carolyn Oeltjenbruns, Tien Truong, Mary Yee, Betsy Wilson, Kelly Schechter, Alan Berger, Tjorvi Perry, Tony Prisco and Jay Sengupta.
  • To our sponsors for donating their money and/or time which allows us to offer these screens for free.
